Red fire bucket for sand or water
If you are checking fire bucket price, it helps to know exactly what you are getting. The FireSpray fire bucket is a classic red bucket that you fill with sand or water. It is the simplest fire safety item on any site: no gauge, no pressure and nothing to service, just a bucket that is always ready next to the risk. The bright red colour makes it easy to find and helps stop it being taken for cleaning or other jobs. The price is shown above (plus GST).
Sand or water: what goes in the bucket?
| Fill with | Use on | Never use on |
|---|---|---|
| Dry sand | Small fires, and oil, diesel or petrol spills before they spread | Large or spreading fires |
| Water | Small fires in wood, paper and cloth | Electrical fires, petrol, diesel, oil or cooking-oil fires |
For live electrical equipment, use a CO2 fire extinguisher instead. For fuel fires bigger than a small spill, use a foam fire extinguisher.
Where fire buckets are used
- Factories, workshops and godowns
- Petrol pumps and fuel storage areas
- Construction sites and open yards
- DG set areas and transformer yards
Fire bucket price vs full setup cost
The fire bucket price is only part of the setup cost. Buckets work best on a stand, so they stay together, off the ground and in one place. Most sites also keep an extinguisher next to the buckets.
| Area | Suggested setup |
|---|---|
| Covered shed, workshop or godown | Buckets on a fire bucket stand plus a 6 kg ABC fire extinguisher |
| Outdoor yard, pump or site | Buckets on a bucket stand with canopy to keep rain and dust out |
| Fuel storage | Sand buckets plus a foam extinguisher, or a wheeled fire extinguisher for large open areas |
How to use a fire bucket safely
- Raise the alarm so others know there is a fire.
- Keep a clear exit behind you.
- For a fuel or oil spill, pour sand from the edges inwards until it is fully covered.
- For a small wood, paper or cloth fire, pour water at the base of the flames.
- Never throw water on electrical, oil or fuel fires.
- Leave at once if the fire grows.
Monthly check
Look at every bucket once a month. The sand should be dry and loose, not lumpy, and filled close to the top. Water should be clean and topped up. Check for rust, dents or holes, and make sure the bucket is back in its place and has not been used for cleaning.

All questionsWhat is the fire bucket price?
The current price is shown on this page, plus GST. Freight is extra as per delivery location, and orders of 10 or more get a factory bulk quote.
Can a fire bucket be used on an electrical fire?
Never use water on an electrical fire. Switch off the power if it is safe to do so and use a CO2 fire extinguisher instead.
Should fire buckets be kept on a stand?
Yes. A stand keeps the buckets together, off the ground and in one visible place. Use a stand with canopy outdoors so rain and dust stay out.
How often should the sand in a fire bucket be checked?
Check it once a month. If the sand is wet, lumpy or dirty, replace it with dry, loose sand so it pours easily.
What do you fill a fire bucket with?
Dry sand for oil and fuel spills, or water for Class A fires such as wood, paper and cloth.
Why buy a fire bucket stand with canopy?
The canopy keeps rain and dust out, so the sand or water stays ready to use.
